Motorists traveling across Bull Shoals Dam should plan for delays as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers temporarily closes Highway 178 for scheduled maintenance.

The closure is scheduled from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, and Friday, July 10, weather permitting.
During the closure, drivers traveling north of the dam will be detoured along Highway 178 through Lakeview, Highway 5 through Midway, Highway 126 through Gassville, and Highway 412 through Flippin before reconnecting with Highway 178 in Bull Shoals. Southbound traffic will follow the same route in reverse.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says the closure is necessary to complete routine dam maintenance and has coordinated the work with local emergency management officials and law enforcement agencies.
Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and check IDriveArkansas.com before traveling for the latest road conditions.
