Golfers, businesses and community supporters are invited to tee off for a great cause this fall as the Friends of Sunshine hosts its 3rd Annual Friends of Sunshine Golf Tournament on Friday, October 2, 2026, at River Oaks Golf Course in Searcy.

The annual fundraising event benefits Sunshine School, a nonprofit organization that has served children and adults with developmental disabilities for decades throughout White, Prairie and Woodruff counties. This year’s tournament will raise money to help build and enhance the adult recreation playground located on the Sunshine School campus in Searcy.

Tournament organizers say the event combines a day of golf, fellowship and community support while helping improve the quality of life for the individuals Sunshine School serves every day.

Lunch will be served beginning at 11 a.m., with golfers teeing off at 12 p.m. at River Oaks Golf Course, 901 Airport Loop in Searcy.

The tournament welcomes community members, businesses, sponsors and golf teams looking to support a meaningful local mission while enjoying a day on the course.

Funds raised during the event will directly benefit the construction and development of an adult recreation playground designed to provide individuals with developmental disabilities a safe, engaging and inclusive outdoor environment for recreation, exercise and social interaction.

Sunshine School has long been recognized for providing educational, vocational and life-enrichment opportunities that empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fuller, more independent lives.

Organizers encourage golfers to register early and businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities to get involved as support from the community continues to make projects like the adult recreation playground possible.
