During the annual Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission banquet, 2 individuals were recognized for their extraordinary service to families experiencing homelessness with the 2nd Annual Al Fowler Heart for Service Awards.

Katie Cullum, representing the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, was honored for her dedication to teaching weekly life-skills classes for Jacob’s Place families. For more than 3 years, she has led sessions every Thursday covering budgeting, parenting, time management, and job readiness—helping families build a strong foundation for long-term success.

Angela English, along with the Highway Church of Christ Furniture Ministry, was also recognized for her hands-on support in helping families transition into permanent housing. English and her team furnish homes with couches, beds, appliances, and décor, ensuring families have a fresh start. To date, she has helped furnish more than 50 homes for families completing the Jacob’s Place program.
The awards were presented by Carla Fowler, honoring the legacy of Al Fowler and his commitment to serving others. Organizers say the recognition highlights the powerful impact local volunteers continue to make in strengthening communities across Arkansas.
