The U.S. Geological Survey recorded 2 minor earthquakes in Arkansas within 4 days of each other, with no injuries or damage reported.
The first earthquake measured 2.3 magnitude and occurred at 11:24 a.m. CDT on June 22. The epicenter was approximately 13 kilometers south-southwest of Pleasant Plains, near Bald Knob, at a depth of 2 kilometers. No tsunami statement was issued, and the event was reviewed by a USGS seismologist.
A second earthquake measuring 1.8 magnitude occurred on June 26 with an epicenter near Cave City at a depth of 8 kilometers.
Both earthquakes were considered minor and are common for Arkansas, particularly within the state’s active seismic regions. No injuries, damage, or public reports were received for either event.
