Team Arkansas received a warm welcome home Saturday after an outstanding performance at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, bringing home 64 medals, including 24 gold medals.
Known as the Arkansas Diamonds, the delegation included 68 athletes and 22 coaches who proudly represented the Natural State while competing against athletes from across the nation.
While the medal count was impressive, athletes and coaches say the experience was about much more than winning. The week was filled with unforgettable memories, new friendships, and the opportunity to showcase determination, sportsmanship, and inclusion on a national stage.
Special Olympics Arkansas also thanked the countless sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who helped make the Games possible. Their support included transporting athletes and families, operating Fan Zones, assisting with the Law Enforcement Torch Run, welcoming motivational speaker Jerome Avery, and creating memorable experiences throughout the week.
Many of Team Arkansas’ athletes say they are already looking ahead to the 2030 Special Olympics USA Games in Cleveland, Ohio, where they hope to once again represent Arkansas on the national stage.
