As the Marked Tree community continues to mourn the loss of Officer Trevor Howard, the fallen officer’s father shared an emotional tribute remembering his son as a devoted law enforcement officer, talented musician, and loving family member.
Officer Howard, 25, of Marmaduke, was killed early Sunday morning while serving with the Marked Tree Police Department. According to the Arkansas State Police, Howard was riding as a passenger in a patrol vehicle when it was struck by another vehicle that allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 14 and Broadway Street. The impact caused the patrol vehicle to overturn.

In a social media post, Howard’s father, Don Howard, said his family’s hearts had been “completely shattered” after learning of the crash.
He described Trevor as someone who “was loved and respected by everyone he came into contact with,” adding that he was a talented musician who was deeply dedicated to his family, his church, and his service as a patrol officer.
“Though our family is devastated, we can take some comfort in knowing that he died doing what he loved and what he was called to do,” Don Howard wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to the officers of the Marked Tree Police Department, the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, family, and friends for surrounding the family with love, kindness, and support during their time of grief.
Howard said funeral arrangements will be announced once they have been finalized.
Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the fatal crash.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Officer Trevor Howard’s family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire Marked Tree community.
