Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has appointed Steve Kueter of Paragould as the newest member of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, filling a 7-year term that will run through 2033.

Kueter succeeds outgoing Commission Chairwoman Anne Marie Doramus. Commissioner Rob Finley will now serve as chairman of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
Governor Sanders praised Kueter’s lifelong commitment to Arkansas’ natural resources.
“Steve has spent his life helping steward our natural resources while preserving our state’s rich outdoor heritage for future generations,” Governor Sanders said. “As a lifelong outdoorsman and third-generation aquaculture farmer, Steve brings decades of experience in conservation, agriculture, and public service, and I know he will work tirelessly to enhance and promote access to our great outdoors.”
Kueter said he is honored by the appointment and reflected on the remarkable conservation successes achieved by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
“In my lifetime there have been so many success stories facilitated by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission,” Kueter said. “When I was growing up, you had to travel hours away to deer hunt and turkeys were just being reintroduced to the Ozarks. Today, turkey and deer are abundant throughout most of the state. It is humbling to be appointed by Governor Sanders and entrusted to continue the good work of the Commission.”
A lifelong resident of Greene County, Kueter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Arkansas State University. He owns and operates Kueter’s Fish Company, Inc., a third-generation catfish and baitfish farm in Paragould.
Throughout his career, Kueter has served on numerous agricultural and conservation boards, including the Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation Board of Directors, Greene County Farm Bureau Board, Arkansas Catfish Promotion Board, Arkansas Bait and Ornamental Fish Growers Association, and the Eight Mile Drainage District, where he currently serves as president.
He has also been recognized nationally as a 2-time Catfish Farmer of the Year and previously chaired the Arkansas Farm Bureau Aquaculture Committee.
Kueter, his wife Emily, their 3 children, and 2 grandchildren continue to enjoy Arkansas’ outdoors through hunting, fishing, and conservation.
