Technology has come a long way.

Now police across the state are using it to help citizens create their global profiles that the police can access. Officials are even asking citizens to give their data to the technology in case of an emergency.

The technology is called “Smart911.”The app allows law enforcement to look at your location and view your private information if a situation calls for it. However, it’s voluntary. The information is only information you provide. It’s the newest promotional item being promoted by local law enforcement agencies to help find missing persons or other similar emergencies.

New Tech Rolled Out Across Arkansas

Although the technology has existed for years, it’s being strongly pushed by police departments across Arkansas.

Smart911 is a free service that allows first responders to access crucial information like gate codes, medical conditions, and allergies when you call 911, enhancing emergency response.

Benton Police Department recently encouraged users to use the technology. According to them:

“The information is private and will only be seen if you call 911. This can save precious time in the event of an emergency. If you already have an account, make sure you keep it updated!”

The City of North Little Rock is rolling out the technology as well. According to them:

“By making their profiles on Smart911, residents in North Little Rock can play a vital role in facilitating a coordinated and informed emergency response when every second counts.”

According to Smart911’s own website, their technology is created as a way for you to voluntarily hand your information to law enforcement:

“Be prepared for any emergency by giving public safety the information they need to better help and communicate with you.”
