Arkansas Firefighters Create “Landing Zone” Leading to Helicopter Evacuation

A major emergency response effort unfolded in Morrilton on Monday night, showcasing the town’s swift coordination among first‑responders.

Morrilton Fire Department teamed with Med‑Tech EMS to set up a landing zone, enabling a Survival Flight helicopter to airlift a critically ill motel guest to UAMS in Little Rock, with police also on scene.

Landing Zone Established for Helicopter Evacuation

A guest at the American Inn motel was discovered in distress after employees grew concerned and called for help. Med‑Tech EMS arrived and provided treatment at the scene. The patient’s condition was deemed critical.

Morrilton firefighters assisted Med‑Tech EMS in establishing a safe landing zone on Monday night. Their effort allowed the helicopter to land nearby. The coordination was essential for rapid evacuation.

A Survival Flight helicopter was on standby and lifted the patient to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. The patient was airlifted in critical condition. The flight proceeded without reported incident.

The Morrilton Police Department also provided assistance on scene. Their role supported the overall response effort. Additional details about the patient’s outcome have not yet been released.
