A swift, coordinated response saved a life in Brinkley on Saturday as officials rushed to aid an inmate in distress.
On September 5, 2026, Brinkley Dispatcher/Jailer Clark Frein, together with officers and a Monroe County deputy, orchestrated an emergency medical effort that got an inmate to a hospital despite an ambulance delay.
Inmate receives emergency care after rapid police transport
At approximately 6:15 p.m., Frein learned an inmate was experiencing a serious medical emergency and immediately requested EMS while notifying Officer Omarion Robinson, Officer Billy Harris, and Deputy Justin Holiday. All responded promptly and began assisting the inmate while waiting for EMS. The local ambulance was unavailable due to another emergency transport.
Frein relayed the ambulance’s unavailability and coordinated with neighboring medical providers, but the nearest responding unit remained about 15 to 20 minutes away. Recognizing the inmate’s condition was deteriorating, the officers moved the inmate into Deputy Holiday’s patrol vehicle for immediate transport. Deputy Holiday, escorted by Officer Harris for safety, drove toward the incoming ambulance.
The police vehicle intercepted the ambulance en route, allowing EMS personnel to assume medical care. The inmate was then transferred to the ambulance and taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. No violence, altercation, or use of force occurred during the incident.
The Brinkley Police Department reviewed the event according to policy and praised Dispatcher/Jailer Clark Frein, Officers Robinson and Harris, and Deputy Holiday for their professionalism and quick action. The department noted that the coordinated effort demonstrated adaptability when minutes mattered. The individual involved was a Monroe County inmate housed at the Brinkley City Jail.
