A small earthquake was recorded Monday evening in north-central Arkansas.
The magnitude 2.0 earthquake occurred at approximately 5:58 p.m. CDT Monday, September 21, 2026, according to earthquake data reviewed by the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS identified the earthquake as occurring approximately 11 miles north-northeast of Hector, Arkansas. The location was also about 15 miles from the Pelsor area.
The earthquake was listed with a magnitude type of “md,” or duration magnitude, and the event was reviewed by a seismologist.
As of the latest available information, no members of the public had submitted “Did You Feel It?” reports associated with the earthquake.
There were also no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
Small earthquakes are occasionally recorded across Arkansas, particularly in areas monitored by regional seismic networks.
The earthquake occurred at 5:58 p.m. Central Daylight Time on September 21.
