This policy explains what information ArkansasRadio.com collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. “We,” “us” and “Arkansas Radio” mean ArkansasRadio.com and the Arkansas Radio stations behind it. Information you give us
- Email sign-ups. When you sign up for urgent updates, email alerts or our newsletter, we collect your email address.
- Polls. When you answer a poll, we collect your answer and the email address you enter to cast your vote.
- Event submissions. When you submit a community event, we collect what you enter: your name, phone number and email address, and the event’s name, date, time, location and details.
- Comments. When you comment on a story, we collect your name, email address, optional website, your comment, and your IP address and browser type to help catch spam. Your name, website and comment appear publicly; your email address does not.
- Emails to us. When you email a news tip, correction or question, we keep your message and contact details so we can reply.
Information collected automatically
- Visitor statistics. We use Simple Analytics to count visits and see which stories people read. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
- Server logs. Our web host records standard technical details for security and to keep the site running, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
- Advertising. Our advertising partners collect information through cookies and similar technology. See “Advertising” below.
How we use your information
- To send the email alerts, updates and newsletters you signed up for.
- To count poll results and, where a poll says so, to send you related email.
- To review and publish community events, and to contact you about an event you submitted.
- To publish and moderate comments, and to keep spam off the site.
- To answer your messages, follow up on news tips and correct our stories.
- To understand which stories readers find useful, and to keep the site working and secure.
Email alerts and unsubscribing
Our email sign-up forms and polls are run on MegaStack, the service we use to store subscriber lists and send email. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us and ask to be removed from any list.
Polls run by partners
Some polls on our pages are run by partner publications, and the poll names its sponsor, for example “Urgent poll by Get Patriot Alerts.” When you answer one of these polls and enter your email address, that partner receives your answer and email address and may send you email. The partner’s own privacy policy and unsubscribe options apply to the email it sends.
Advertising
Ads help keep ArkansasRadio.com free. We work with advertising companies, including Infolinks and its partners (among them Google) and decide.dev, to show ads on our pages. These companies may use cookies, web beacons and similar technology to collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit here and on other websites, so they can show ads, measure how ads perform, and show ads based on your interests. Each company handles that information under its own privacy policy.
You can limit interest-based advertising:

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they may be less related to your interests.
Cookies and similar technology
- Our own. If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name and email in a cookie for next time; it lasts one year. Staff who log in get login cookies. We also store small flags in your browser so we do not keep showing you the email pop-up after you sign up or close it.
- Advertising partners. As described above.
- Embedded content. As described below.
Embedded content and other services
Some pages include content or tools from other companies. When your browser loads them, those companies receive information such as your IP address and may set their own cookies, just as if you visited their sites directly. These include:
- Facebook posts embedded in stories
- Google, for website fonts and the “Add to Preferred Sources” button
- Gravatar, which may show a profile picture next to a comment
- Our live audio streams, which are delivered by streaming providers
- The National Weather Service (weather.gov), for weather radar and forecasts
Who we share information with
- Service providers that run the site for us, such as our web host and our email and forms platform. They may use the information only to provide their service to us.
- Partner polls, as described above, when you answer a poll a partner runs.
- Advertising partners, as described above.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our readers, our staff or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep comments and their details for as long as the comment is on the site. We keep event submissions and messages as long as we need them for the reasons above.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of the email.
- Email us to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We will respond within a reasonable time, and as required by the law that applies to you.
- Limit advertising cookies using the links in the Advertising section or your browser settings.
Children
ArkansasRadio.com is a general news site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the information we collect, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our site. No website or service can be completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our site or services change. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
