Heber Springs City Council members approved a higher cost estimate for replacing the Eighth Street Bridge and additional funding for a paving project during Thursday’s meeting.

EIGHTH STREET BRIDGE ESTIMATE INCREASES
Council members approved increasing the estimated cost of replacing the Eighth Street Bridge from $56,200 to $62,720.
The revised estimate represents an increase of $6,520.
ADDITIONAL PAVING FUNDS APPROVED
The council also approved $68,000 in additional funding for a state-supported paving project expected to provide up to $400,000 for road improvements.
The project would support improvements to city streets. Specific paving locations and a construction schedule were not included in the information provided.
AIRPORT VEGETATION CONCERNS DISCUSSED
Officials discussed ongoing concerns about mowing and vegetation at the Heber Springs Airport.

Council members also discussed problems with the city’s website provider, Civic Plus, and plans to explore using a local company for website hosting and related services.
The city’s website is being rebuilt and is expected to go live September 28. A switch to a local provider remains under consideration.
