A Searcy man is facing a felony battery charge after police say he assaulted a co-worker at a Batesville construction site following a dispute involving a workplace safety instruction.
According to court records, 24-year-old Omar Smith Corro-Hernandez was arrested on June 15 and charged with 1 count of Second-Degree Battery, a Class D felony. He is currently being held at the Independence County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.

An Independence County Circuit Court probable cause affidavit states that Batesville Police Sgt. Melissa Wilkey responded to the incident and found the injured worker suffering from a bruised and swollen right eye, a swollen upper lip, and blood covering his clothing.
Emergency responders evaluated the victim at the scene and noted a possible dislocated shoulder, along with chest and back injuries. The victim was later transported to White River Health for treatment.
According to a witness statement included in the affidavit, the victim reported being punched in the face, chest, and back. The statement alleges the assault continued after the victim was knocked to the ground, with additional blows delivered to the kidney area.
Court documents indicate the employer requested that Corro-Hernandez be criminally trespassed from the construction site following the incident.
Investigators say Corro-Hernandez later waived his rights and admitted striking the foreman after a workplace confrontation. The affidavit states he told investigators he pushed away the foreman’s hand, struck him in the face, knocked him to the ground, and continued hitting him.
According to the affidavit, when investigators asked if he had ever considered stopping the assault, Corro-Hernandez allegedly answered no and laughed.
The charge remains an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
