A Waffle House employee was killed early Sunday morning after police say a vehicle crashed into the restaurant in Maumelle.
According to information released by the Maumelle Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:25 a.m. on September 27, 2026, to the Waffle House at 20514 State Highway 365.
Police said the call involved a motor vehicle crash in which a vehicle entered the restaurant.
EMPLOYEE FATALLY INJURED
According to police, an employee who was inside the Waffle House suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The employee’s identity has not been released pending notification of family.
Authorities had not released additional information about the victim as of Sunday morning.
DRIVER ARRESTED FOLLOWING CRASH
Maumelle Police identified the driver as Ranisha Peebles.
According to police, Peebles was arrested on charges of:
Negligent Homicide
Driving While Intoxicated
Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test
Reckless Driving
Obstructing Governmental Operations
Police said Peebles will be held at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.
INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
The Maumelle Police Department said the fatal crash remains under investigation.
Additional information, including the identity of the employee, could be released as the investigation continues and after family members have been notified.
A criminal charge is an accusation. Peebles is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
