Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced new funding for 6 county road improvement projects across Arkansas through the Arkansas Unpaved Roads Program including Independence, Searcy and Sharp Counties.

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture said the projects will receive more than $327,000 in state funding along with more than $529,000 in local matching funds.

Officials said the projects are designed to improve stormwater management, drainage systems, culverts, and roadway safety on rural county roads throughout the state.

“In rural Arkansas, county roads are the critical infrastructure families use to drive every day to work, school, church, and home,” Sanders said. “By investing in county road improvements, we’re making travel safer and ensuring communities across our state stay connected.” Wes Ward said strong county infrastructure remains essential for Arkansas communities and praised the partnership between state and local governments.

Projects receiving funding include:

Calhoun County — $75,000 for roadway elevation and culvert improvements.

Dallas County — $50,248 for roadway elevation and drainage upgrades.

Independence County — $59,217 for roadway rebuilding, ditch reshaping, and drainage improvements.

Searcy County — $35,937 for resurfacing and drainage upgrades.

Sevier County — $31,724 for culvert replacement and water diversion improvements.

Sharp County — $75,000 for a new free-span bridge, roadbed elevation, and drainage improvements.

State officials said the projects are intended to improve long-term road stability and help reduce flooding concerns in rural areas across Arkansas.
