Former Cave City Arkansas Coach Pleads Guilty to Terroristic Threatening in Batesville Arkansas Case

A former Cave City, Arkansas football coach and teacher has pleaded guilty after threatening to kill his estranged wife in an incident that prompted a security response at a medical office in Batesville, Arkansas.

Dillon Ray Sallas, age 32, of Cave City, Arkansas, entered a guilty plea to second-degree terroristic threatening in Independence County Circuit Court in Batesville, Arkansas.

Circuit Judge Tim Weaver sentenced Sallas to 9 months of probation and ordered that he have no contact with the victim for at least 1 year.

Threats Reported to Police

According to court records, the victim contacted Batesville Police in Batesville, Arkansas on March 27, 2025, reporting that Sallas had made threats to shoot her.

Investigators say the victim received a text message from Sallas that stated:

“You’ll see me later today. You got exactly what you got coming.”

An affidavit filed by Detective Brenda Bittle with the Batesville Police Department in Batesville, Arkansas states that Sallas’ mother also warned the victim to stay inside and lock her doors after Sallas allegedly said he planned to shoot her.

Authorities say Sallas also sent his mother a message stating he intended to kill the victim and later left a voicemail threatening her.

Medical Office Temporarily Closed

After the threats were reported, hospital security was called to the victim’s workplace on Hospital Circle in Batesville, Arkansas.

Officials closed the medical office to the public once the final patient left for the day while authorities responded to the situation.

Arrest and Court Records

Court documents show the victim had filed for divorce on June 3, 2024, and was in the process of seeking an order of protection at the time of the incident.

Police arrested Sallas later that afternoon and booked him into the Independence County Jail in Batesville, Arkansas. Jail records indicate he was released approximately 20 minutes later after posting a $2,500 bond.

State employment records for the 2024-2025 school year show Sallas worked as an 8th grade social studies teacher at Cave City Middle School in Cave City, Arkansas, and also served as a football coach.
