A Paragould man previously facing multiple counts of rape and sexual assault has been convicted on four charges following a jury verdict returned Friday in Greene County.

Larry Kevin King, 53, was found guilty of one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault, and two counts of sexual indecency with a child. He was acquitted on several other charges, including one count of first-degree sexual assault, one count of sexual indecency with a child, and three counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Circuit Judge Melissa Richardson sentenced King to 300 months—equivalent to 25 years—in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. King is also required to register as a sex offender.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline received a report from a minor who disclosed sexual acts allegedly committed by an adult male acquaintance. The child was interviewed two days later and told investigators he met King at age 14.

The minor reported that King, who was an acquaintance of his parents, had taken him on multiple out-of-town trips. He alleged that King provided him alcohol and then exposed his genitalia. The affidavit states that the minor disclosed multiple incidents occurring in Greene County between the ages of 14 and 15, including sexual acts authorities believe constitute first- and second-degree sexual assault, as well as instances of sexual indecency.

A witness interviewed in the investigation told police that King had unrestricted access to the minor during the time period the alleged acts occurred.

King was taken into custody to begin serving his sentence following the jury’s verdict and court sentencing.
