Arkansas State University-Beebe has named Debbie Elgen its 2026 Outstanding Alumni award recipient for the Arkansas Community Colleges Conference, recognizing her professional leadership, community service and continued support of education across White County and the region.
Elgen graduated from ASU-Beebe in 2012 before earning a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas Tech University. She began her career with Edward Jones in 2012 as a branch office administrator and transitioned to serving as a financial advisor in the company’s Searcy office in 2019.
“Debbie is a respected business and community leader whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact across White County and beyond,” ASU-Beebe Chancellor Dr. Jennifer Methvin said.
Methvin cited Elgen’s business leadership, chamber involvement, mentorship and advocacy efforts as examples of her contributions to economic development and professional growth throughout the region.
Elgen Earned ASU-Beebe’s Highest Student Honor
Elgen received ASU-Beebe’s prestigious Citizenship Award in 2012, the college’s highest student honor recognizing leadership, academics, service and campus involvement.
That same year, she received the college’s Education and Social Sciences Division Award and was included in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
“ASU-Beebe played a foundational role in shaping my personal and professional journey,” Elgen said. “The experiences, relationships, and opportunities I’ve gained at ASU-Beebe helped develop my passion for leadership, service, and community engagement.”

Elgen has served with numerous civic and nonprofit organizations, including the boards of the:
Searcy Chamber of Commerce
White County Community Foundation
White County Single Parent Scholarship
Imagine and Believe Foundation
Her work has supported scholarships, education initiatives, workforce development, nonprofit organizations and community engagement programs.
Elgen has also received recognition through the Searcy Chamber Small Business of the Year and Emerging Business of the Year honors.
Andrea Cole, ASU-Beebe associate vice chancellor for institutional advancement, said Elgen has demonstrated leadership and innovation throughout both her career and community involvement.
“Her willingness to mentor, speak at events, and invest in future leaders reflects her dedication to strengthening both her profession and her community,” Cole said.
Continuing To Support ASU-Beebe Students
Elgen currently serves on the ASU-Beebe Board of Visitors and the ASU-Beebe Development Council.
She also supports students and emerging professionals through organizations and programs including Future Business Leaders of America, Educators Rising, the ASU-Beebe Business Club and chamber initiatives.
ASU-Beebe Alumni Association Board President Andy Hall said Elgen represents the lasting influence community college education can have on individuals and communities.
“On behalf of the Alumni Association, we are incredibly proud of Debbie and her outstanding leadership and service to the college and our community,” Hall said.
Gratitude Luncheon Planned For November 17
ASU-Beebe will host a Gratitude Luncheon on November 17, 2026, honoring Debbie Elgen.
The event will also help establish an alumni scholarship that will be awarded to a child, grandchild, spouse or dependent of an ASU-Beebe alumnus.

Arkansas State University-Beebe was founded in 1927 and is an operationally separate 2-year institution within the Arkansas State University System. The college operates campuses in Beebe, Heber Springs, Searcy and Little Rock Air Force Base, along with online programs.
