Not so fast, kids!
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office just jumped in front of a scheduled bonfire party. They’re not happy!
After it came to light that a bonfire/party was scheduled in Perry County, Arkansas on August 22nd, the Perry County Sheriff’s office issued an official statement. You can read it below.
Bonfire Plan Called A “Bad Idea”
In the statement, they issued a warning to parents to keep track of their children because the plan was a bad idea.
You can read the official announcement below:
The Perry County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a bonfire/party reportedly being planned for tomorrow night 8/22 in the Union Valley area.
A couple of important reminders:
Perry County is currently under a BURN BAN. A bonfire is not only a bad idea right now—it can quickly become a very serious problem.
And apparently someone thought posting coordinates was a good way to keep the location under wraps.
We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but coordinates are kind of our thing.
Parents, please know where your teenagers and young adults are, what their plans are, and who they are with. A “little bonfire” can turn into something much bigger when you mix a crowd, vehicles, alcohol, fire, and dry conditions.
We would much rather everyone make good decisions before we have to come introduce ourselves.
So, to the young people planning tomorrow night’s festivities: consider this your friendly notice that we know about it.
Parents: ask your sweet & precious, child(ren) what they have planned tomorrow night.
Stay safe, Perry County. And please—NO BONFIRES or BURNING DURING A BURN BAN.
