Harding University To Host 2026 Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games In Searcy

Harding University will host the 2026 Special Olympics Arkansas Summer Games from May 21-31 in Searcy, bringing nearly 2,000 athletes and 500 coaches from across the state to compete in multiple sporting events.
Athletes will participate in bocce, powerlifting, softball, swimming, track and field, and tennis competitions during the annual event.
Opening ceremonies are scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 PM at the Ted and Marcie Lloyd Track and Field Complex located at 1825 East Beebe Capps Expressway in Searcy. Competition begins Friday, May 22, at 8:30 AM.
Most events will take place along Harding University’s Bison Lane, while swimming competitions will be held at the Searcy Swim Center located at 525 Recreation Way.
Organizers say the public is invited to attend and cheer on the athletes throughout the games.
“We are looking forward to hosting the Arkansas Summer Games again this year in Searcy at Harding University,” said Dr. John Richard Duke, executive director of the American Studies Institute. “This is a wonderful event, and we hope many will attend in support of the athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and so many others who make this event possible.”
The Law Enforcement Torch Run began May 18 with officers carrying the “Flame of Hope” from all corners of Arkansas. On Thursday, May 21, the Guardians of the Flame will gather at the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock before beginning the Final Leg, a 50-mile continuous run to Searcy ending during opening ceremonies.
Special Olympics Arkansas officials say the organization serves more than 15,000 athletes and 5,000 volunteers across Arkansas through sports, health, education, and community programs.
