Des Arc Mayor Roger Scott has signed off on a $213,992 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to fund improvements at City Hall.

The funding comes through the Arkansas Department of Energy and Environment.

Riverbend Mechanical will complete the planned renovations at the municipal building.

Work is scheduled to begin September 1 and be completed by October 31.

The project is intended to improve energy efficiency at City Hall, potentially reducing energy consumption and operating expenses for the city.

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program supports projects designed to help local governments reduce energy use, lower costs and improve efficiency in public buildings and other community facilities.

City officials have not released a detailed list of the improvements included in the project.

Officials have also not announced whether the renovations will affect regular City Hall operating hours or access to municipal services.

The city’s announcement marks the latest step toward beginning the energy-efficiency renovations.

Work by Riverbend Mechanical is expected to take approximately 2 months, beginning September 1 and concluding by October 31.
