Arkansas State University-Beebe is set to bring a vibrant evening of bluegrass to the community with a free outdoor concert by Little Rock’s own Runaway Planet on Thursday, September 26. This special event is part of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series and is designed to coincide with Family Week festivities.
The concert will take place in The Grove, located behind the State Hall building on the Beebe campus. Attendees are invited to arrive early, from 5 to 6 p.m., to enjoy a picnic atmosphere with food and drinks provided by Great Western Dining. The concert itself will kick off at 7 p.m., promising a lively performance from the renowned bluegrass band.
Runaway Planet, formed in 2001, is known for their dynamic blend of traditional and progressive bluegrass. Drawing inspiration from bluegrass legends such as Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, as well as contemporary influences like The Country Gentlemen and New Grass Revival, the band offers a blend of hard-driving bluegrass, harmonies, and original compositions. Their performances have captivated audiences ranging from long-time bluegrass enthusiasts to newcomers to the genre.
This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, made possible by the generous support of Arkansas Radio, First Electric Cooperative, and First Community Bank.
“We are thrilled to bring Runaway Planet to ASU-Beebe during Family Week as part of our Lecture-Concert Series,” said Andrea Cole, interim associate vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement and chair of the ASU-Beebe Lecture-Concert Series. “This is a wonderful opportunity for families and community members to come together for a fun evening of live music and great food.”
