Congressman French Hill of Arkansas’s 2nd Congressional District joined ArkansasRadio.com radio station owner Bob Connell for a wide-ranging interview on Open Mic.
Hill was in Searcy for a Veterans Advisory Council meeting at the Arkansas Army National Guard Armory, located at 3105 South Main Street.
The Veterans Advisory Council allows Hill to hear directly from veterans and discuss issues involving healthcare, benefits, housing and other services. Hill established the council to maintain communication with veterans throughout Central Arkansas.
During his conversation with Connell, Hill discussed the council meeting and concerns facing veterans and their families.
Housing Legislation Becomes Law
Hill and Connell also discussed the congressman’s 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act becoming law.
The bipartisan legislation is designed to reduce regulatory barriers, increase the nation’s housing supply and make homeownership more attainable.
According to Hill’s congressional office, the legislation includes more than 45 provisions addressing housing construction, community lending, building codes, federal housing programs and institutional home purchases.
The measure passed the Senate by an 85-14 vote and the House by a 358-32 vote before becoming law.
FAA And TSA Cybersecurity Concerns
Hill also discussed his Golden Fleece Award to the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration over gaps in aviation cybersecurity.
A Government Accountability Office report examined how the FAA and TSA define their cybersecurity responsibilities, manage cybersecurity spending and implement strategies intended to protect aviation systems.
The report identified weaknesses involving cybersecurity planning, agency responsibilities, budget reporting and the implementation of security improvements.
Canada Tariffs And Iran
The Open Mic interview also covered tariffs involving Canada and developments concerning Iran.
Hill and Connell discussed how international trade policies and foreign conflicts could affect the United States, Arkansas businesses and American families.
