The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory has earned international recognition after receiving the prestigious Foresight Maximus Award during the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Annual Symposium held May 17 through May 21 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The award honors forensic laboratories operating at 90% or better of peak efficiency during the reporting year and recognizes excellence in operational performance, scientific standards, efficiency, and financial stewardship.

The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory was one of only 15 laboratories worldwide selected from 184 participating laboratories during the 2024-2025 reporting cycle.

ASCL Director Dr. Theodore Brown praised the laboratory team for its dedication to serving Arkansans while maintaining high standards in forensic science.

Project Foresight evaluates forensic laboratories across the globe using standardized metrics that measure operational efficiency, casework management, personnel allocation, and financial performance. The program was originally launched through a partnership between West Virginia University and the National Institute of Justice.

Officials say the international recognition highlights Arkansas’ continued commitment to advancing forensic science and supporting the criminal justice system through innovation and operational excellence.
