A Mountain View man was killed and another Mountain View man was injured Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in rural Independence County.
According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash report, the wreck occurred at approximately 5:35 p.m. Monday, August 3, near the intersection of State Highway 25 and Greenbriar Farm Road.
Police identified the driver as 44-year-old Michael Jackson of Mountain View. Jackson was pronounced dead following the crash.
A passenger, 27-year-old Gage Browder of Mountain View, was injured and transported to White River Medical Center for treatment. The report did not provide additional information about his condition.
The preliminary report states that a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Highway 25 when it left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned.
Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the crash.
Jackson’s body was being held at Doty Family Funeral Home. Arkansas State Police confirmed that his next of kin had been notified.
Trooper Grayson E. Russell investigated the crash. The wreck is listed as Arkansas State Police Fatal Crash Report 256 and Accident Report 246 for 2026.
The preliminary report did not identify what caused the truck to leave the roadway. The investigation remains subject to any additional findings from Arkansas State Police.
