The Southside School District announced an important leadership transition following a special Board of Education meeting held Monday night.

Superintendent Dion Stevens will retire at the conclusion of the 2026-2027 school year after years of service leading the district through growth, campus expansion projects, and new opportunities for students and staff.

The Board of Education has named Jimmy Hodges as Superintendent-Elect for the 2026-2027 school year. Hodges currently serves as principal of Southside Charter High School and has worked with Southside students and families for the past 10 years in several leadership roles.
During the transition year, Hodges will work alongside Stevens in preparation for assuming superintendent responsibilities.
District leaders thanked Stevens for his years of leadership while congratulating Hodges on his new role with the district.
