Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joined the Arkansas Department of Health and the Arkansas Department of Human Services Tuesday to launch a new statewide maternal healthcare campaign designed to help women quickly access pregnancy and postpartum care close to home.

The initiative, called “Claim Your Care,” officially launched May 6 during Women’s Health Month and coincided with the 3rd annual Month of May Block Party and Women’s Health Expo in Little Rock.

The campaign encourages women who are pregnant, may be pregnant, or planning for pregnancy to connect with Arkansas Health Units located across all 75 counties in the state.

Governor Sanders said the program is focused on helping mothers find affordable, accessible care early in pregnancy.

Arkansas Secretary of Health Renee Mallory said Arkansas Health Units already provide prenatal care, mental health support, postpartum services, nutrition assistance, breastfeeding support, and help connecting patients with local doctors and healthcare providers.

State officials say the campaign is part of Arkansas’ broader effort to improve maternal health outcomes through the Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act signed by Governor Sanders in 2025. The law directed $45 million toward maternal healthcare improvements statewide.

Arkansas Surgeon General Dr. Kay Chandler said improving early access to healthcare can help improve outcomes for mothers and infants throughout the state.

Arkansas Health Units accept insurance, but officials say women without insurance or with limited ability to pay may receive services at no out-of-pocket cost.

The Arkansas Department of Human Services says the campaign will also help connect eligible women with Medicaid coverage and other support programs.

Arkansas Health Units provide services including prenatal and postpartum care, WIC nutrition services, immunizations, breastfeeding support, family planning, and community health referrals.
