A 64-year-old Conway Arkansas man has been arrested following a lengthy multi-agency investigation tied to a homicide case in Damascus Arkansas.

Sheriff Koonce reports investigators with the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office arrested James Arthur Emmons on March 23, 2026. The arrest follows a 16-month investigation involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Arkansas State Police, Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, and the U.S. Marshals.

The case dates back to March 22, 2023, when William Ward was reported missing from the Damascus Arkansas area. Authorities later determined Ward had been the victim of foul play. His body was recovered on September 5, 2025.

Earlier in the investigation, Bobby Gene Glover was arrested and charged with Ward’s murder.

Officials say further investigation revealed Emmons’ involvement. He now faces multiple charges, including 1 count of unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime, 1 count of abuse of a corpse, 3 counts of tampering with physical evidence, and 1 count of hindering apprehension.

Emmons has been booked into the Van Buren County Detention Facility with no bond.

Authorities emphasize the investigation remains ongoing.
