Arkansas State University Chancellor Todd Shields has issued a message to the campus community addressing recent reports of deeply inappropriate and hateful behavior on campus, confirming that the incidents are being taken seriously and are currently under investigation.

In his statement, Chancellor Shields made it clear that the reported behavior does not align with the university’s values or standards. Read the full letter here.
“Let me be clear: this type of behavior has no place at Arkansas State,” Shields said. “It is not consistent with our institutional values and the standards we uphold as an academic community.”
University officials say the incidents are being reviewed by the appropriate offices, and the administration remains committed to maintaining a learning environment where all students, faculty, and staff feel safe, supported, and valued.
Shields encouraged anyone who has witnessed or experienced behavior that undermines this commitment to report it using the university’s centralized reporting system at AState.edu/Report, which is also accessible through the website footer under “File a Report.”
The chancellor closed his message by calling on the campus community to continue working together to ensure Arkansas State remains a place where everyone can thrive.
