Cave City Nursing Home has officially earned the prestigious CMS Five-Star Overall Quality Rating, the highest possible score awarded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, recognizing excellence in resident care, staffing, and facility performance.

As of January 2026, the Medicare-certified nursing facility, located at 442 Taylor Circle in Cave City, achieved a full five-star overall rating — a designation reserved for nursing homes demonstrating “much above average” quality compared to facilities nationwide.

The CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System is designed to help families and caregivers compare long-term care providers. Ratings range from one star, indicating below-average performance, to five stars, representing top-tier quality across multiple performance categories.

The overall score is calculated using three primary measures:

• Health Inspections — Based on results from the past three years of onsite surveys and complaint investigations.
• Staffing — Evaluates nursing hours provided per resident, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nurse aides.
• Quality Measures — Uses clinical outcomes such as fall prevention, pressure ulcer rates, and vaccination levels to assess resident care.

Local data shows Cave City continues to outperform much of the state. The city’s average CMS rating across facilities stands at 5.0 stars, significantly higher than the Arkansas statewide average of approximately 3.1 stars, with Cave City Nursing Home holding the top local ranking.

The facility operates with 90 licensed beds and is dual-certified for both Medicare and Medicaid, offering short-term rehabilitation services and long-term residential care. Amenities include an activity center, outdoor spaces, and pet-friendly policies designed to enhance resident quality of life.

Community leaders say the recognition reflects the dedication of caregivers and staff while providing families with added confidence when choosing local long-term care options.

A five-star CMS rating is considered a significant achievement and signals consistent performance in safety, clinical care, staffing stability, and resident satisfaction. Families can view detailed performance metrics and inspection data through the facility’s public profile on Medicare.gov.
