Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin Reminds Voters of Election Law Hotline as Early Voting Continues for November 3 Election

, , Leave a comment

With early voting underway across Arkansas ahead of the November 3 general election, Attorney General Tim Griffin is reminding residents that they have a year-round resource for reporting suspected violations of state election laws.

Griffin announced Thursday, October 22, 2026, that the Arkansas Attorney General’s Election Law Hotline remains available to receive complaints about potential election law violations. Residents wishing to report concerns may call 833-995-8683.

The reminder comes as voters throughout Arkansas are casting ballots early in local, state and federal elections.

Griffin emphasized the role of his office’s Election Integrity Unit, which was established in 2023 to investigate allegations involving state election laws.

Arkansas Election Law Hotline Available Year-Round

The Attorney General’s Office says the Election Law Hotline accepts complaints throughout the year, not just during election season.

833-995-8683

Residents who believe a possible election law violation has occurred may contact the hotline to submit information or a complaint.

The hotline is administered through the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office as part of its election law enforcement responsibilities.

The office did not announce any changes to the hotline’s telephone number or reporting procedures in its October 22 statement.

Griffin Says Election Integrity Remains a Priority

In his announcement, Griffin reaffirmed his commitment to enforcing Arkansas election laws.

He said the Election Integrity Unit was established 3 years ago to work alongside the state’s existing complaint hotline.

According to Griffin, the unit investigates election-related complaints and has legal authority to pursue civil proceedings when authorized under Arkansas law.

The attorney general also asserted that Arkansas ranks 1st nationally in election integrity.

That ranking was presented as Griffin’s assessment in the official release; the announcement did not provide a specific ranking methodology or independent supporting study.

The October 22 statement did not announce any new criminal charges, arrests or specific election-related investigations.

What Is the Arkansas Election Integrity Unit?

Griffin established the Election Integrity Unit, also known as the EIU, in March 2023 under the Attorney General’s Special Investigations Division.

The unit was created to handle allegations involving Arkansas voter registration requirements, election laws and election security.

Chief Wayne Bewley was named director of the unit.

The Election Integrity Unit’s responsibilities include receiving and tracking complaints, reviewing allegations of election law violations and coordinating with the appropriate election authorities.

The unit also has statutory authority to pursue certain civil enforcement actions.

These responsibilities apply to alleged election law violations and do not mean that every complaint will result in criminal charges or a lawsuit.

Arkansas Act 544 of 2023 Established Election Integrity Unit in State Law

In April 2023, Act 544 became law, formally establishing the Election Integrity Unit within the Attorney General’s Office.

The legislation amended Arkansas election laws and provided additional responsibilities concerning election law complaints and investigations.

Among its provisions, Act 544 authorizes the unit to:

  • Maintain records of alleged election law violations and complaints.
  • Oversee the Attorney General’s election law hotline.
  • Respond to complaints concerning possible voter registration or election law violations.
  • Refer appropriate matters to the Arkansas State Board of Election Commissioners.
  • Pursue civil proceedings to enforce certain election laws.
  • Receive sworn statements and use authorized investigative procedures.

The legislation also addresses reporting and enforcement responsibilities involving the State Board of Election Commissioners.

The unit’s authority is governed by Arkansas law and established legal procedures.

What Should Arkansans Do If They Suspect an Election Law Violation?

Arkansas residents who believe a violation of election law may have occurred can report their concerns to the Attorney General’s Office.

People reporting a possible violation should provide accurate information about the incident, including the location, date, time and a description of what occurred, when those details are known.

Relevant documents or other information may help investigators review a complaint.

TO REPORT A SUSPECTED ELECTION LAW VIOLATION:
CALL 833-995-8683

The Attorney General’s Office also provides election integrity information through its official website.
