Drivers traveling through Cabot should prepare for a temporary traffic shift as construction continues on improvements to the Highway 5 and Interstate 57 interchange.

According to the Arkansas Department of Transportation, construction crews will begin the traffic shift at 7 p.m. Monday, June 22. The change will remain in place around the clock until further notice.
As part of the project, the current Highway 5 entrance ramp to Interstate 57 southbound will temporarily close while crews construct a new entrance ramp.
During the closure, motorists seeking access to Interstate 57 southbound will be directed to use John Hardin Drive and enter the interstate through a temporary traffic signal.
Transportation officials say digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and additional signage will be installed throughout the area to help guide motorists safely through the work zone.
The interchange improvement project is designed to enhance traffic flow and safety in one of the fastest-growing areas of Central Arkansas.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down, remain alert in construction zones, and allow extra travel time while the traffic shift is in effect.
Additional travel information and construction updates are available through the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
