She’s donating a replica of her amazing catch while fishing!
Fisher Megan Gray caught a record-setting brook trout while wade-fishing in the Little Red River in October 2023. However, due to regulations, she wasn’t able to weigh it. But professionals estimate based on pictures it was a new record. But now, Gray has donated a replica of the trout to be viewed in Heber Springs!
Replica Fish Donated To Visitor Center After Record Catch
The catch occurred below Greers Ferry Dam in a catch and release zone.
Due to regulations, Gray could not weigh or measure the fish, but photos with a fishing rod estimated its length at 17.38 inches. The fish’s estimated girth was 15.38 inches, with a weight of approximately 5.5 pounds.
Gray donated a replica of the trout to the William Carl Garner Visitor Center on October 30, 2024. The replica is now on display for public viewing.
The center is open from Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., located at 700 Heber Springs Rd N, Heber Springs. Visitors are encouraged to come see the impressive replica firsthand.
