Unity Health Receives Additional Rural Health Funding
Unity Health was selected to receive an additional $300,926.15 through the Arkansas Rural Health Transformation Program, bringing its total award to $2,206,422. The funding is part of the state’s effort to strengthen rural health services.
Jamie Higgins, executive director of the Unity Health Foundation, accepted the award on Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Governor’s Mansion. The ceremony highlighted the partnership between the health system and state officials.
The grant was awarded through the RISE AR pillar, which aims to bolster Arkansas’ rural healthcare workforce through recruitment, retention and professional development.
Unity Health will use the money for two initiatives: a gastroenterology fellowship that will add a second specialist and require a five‑year service commitment, and the SKILL‑UP Workforce Development Project that will fund education, credentialing and career‑advancement opportunities for current employees.
