The Office of Keep Arkansas Beautiful is officially part of the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) following the passage of Act 148 during the 2026 Fiscal Session.

The legislation, sponsored by State Senator Mark Johnson, transfers the duties and responsibilities of the former Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission from the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism to a newly created office within ARDOT.

State officials say the move will strengthen litter prevention, beautification, and environmental stewardship efforts by bringing programs under one agency.

The Office of Keep Arkansas Beautiful will continue its statewide partnerships and educational programs while working more closely with ARDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program and other litter prevention initiatives.

Office of Keep Arkansas Beautiful Administrator McKenzie McMath Coronel said the partnership creates opportunities to go beyond litter cleanup by expanding roadside wildflowers, scenic byways, community beautification projects, and other efforts that showcase Arkansas’ natural beauty.

ARDOT Director Jared Wiley said litter remains a significant challenge across the state and believes the Office of Keep Arkansas Beautiful’s experience and expertise will strengthen Arkansas’ efforts through education, enforcement, and dedicated cleanup funding.

Officials say the partnership is designed to help keep Arkansas highways and public spaces cleaner, safer, and more attractive for residents and visitors alike.
