The Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS) has confirmed that Centene Corporation will no longer participate in Arkansas’ ARHOME Medicaid expansion program beginning in 2027.
The change affects approximately 70,000 ARHOME beneficiaries currently enrolled in Centene’s Ambetter, QCA Health Plan, and QualChoice Life and Health plans.
DHS officials emphasized that no action is required by beneficiaries at this time. The agency will automatically work to transition eligible members into other available ARHOME plans and will provide additional information, including open enrollment instructions, in the coming months.
After Centene exits the program, the remaining ARHOME insurance options will include Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield, Health Advantage, and Octave.
ARHOME, short for Arkansas Health and Opportunity for Me, provides private health insurance coverage for low-income adults between the ages of 19 and 64 using Medicaid funding. The program currently serves more than 211,000 Arkansans, with about one-third enrolled in Centene-administered plans.
DHS also noted that more than 625,000 Arkansans receive traditional Medicaid benefits outside the ARHOME program and are not affected by Centene’s decision.
State officials say beneficiaries should wait for future guidance from DHS regarding plan transitions and open enrollment before taking any action.
