ArkansasRadio.com Radio Stations will broadcast LIVE tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. during a Multi-Station Radio Rally at the Jacksonville Senior Wellness & Activity Center, located at 100 Victory Circle.
The community is invited to stop by beginning with Bingo from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., followed by live broadcasts, community fellowship, and information about the many programs available for area seniors.
The event also features Arkansas SHIIP Day, with certified counselors offering FREE, confidential, unbiased Medicare counseling and information about ways eligible seniors may reduce prescription drug costs.
The Jacksonville Senior Wellness & Activity Center has been serving the community for more than 50 years. Established in 1974 as the Jacksonville Elderly Activities Program in a single-wide mobile home on Martin Street, the center moved into its current facility in 1984 after community support helped fund construction. Today, the center provides free meals, recreational activities, wellness programs, home-delivered meals, and social opportunities for adults 60 and older.
ArkansasRadio.com Owner Bob Connell recently spoke with Activity Coordinator Allison Daniel, who says the center continues its mission of helping area seniors remain active, healthy, and connected.
Allison Daniel, Activity Coordinator Shared:
“For our members 60 and over, membership is free. We also offer a free lunch every day. Our hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and we have a home-delivered meals program for clients who are homebound. Some of our most popular activities are beanbag baseball and chair volleyball, and we offer several exercise classes, including Ageless Grace, a chair-based exercise class set to music, as well as chair yoga. Throughout the month we also have coloring classes, special activity classes, and sponsors who come in to teach different programs. And, of course, we have Bingo twice a month. We invite everyone to come see what the Jacksonville Senior Wellness & Activity Center has to offer.”
