The Arkansas State Highway Commission has announced proposed amendments to rules governing permits for oversize and overweight vehicles traveling on the Arkansas State Highway System.

The public comment period began April 5 2026 and will remain open through May 14 2026, giving individuals, businesses, and stakeholders time to review and provide input.
Officials with the Arkansas Department of Transportation say the proposed updates are intended to address issues related to the safe and efficient movement of large and heavy loads across the state’s highway system.
Anyone interested in reviewing the proposed rules can access them online or request copies directly from ARDOT. Written comments may be submitted by email or mail but must be received by May 14 2026 to be considered.
A public hearing is scheduled for 10:00 AM on May 13 2026 at the ARDOT Central Office Auditorium located at 10324 Interstate 30 in Little Rock Arkansas.
Transportation officials encourage public participation as the state considers updates that could impact industries relying on oversize and overweight transport.
