A deadly crash in Independence County Monday morning has claimed 1 life and left 2 others injured, according to authorities.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 167 South, in Southside Arkansas, near the junction with State Highway 14 Arkansas.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation first reported the crash at 6:49 a.m., noting a multi-vehicle collision that caused major travel disruptions.
Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens confirmed that 1 person was killed in the 3-vehicle crash. Two additional individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their identities and conditions have not yet been released.
Authorities say all lanes of Highway 167 were blocked for a period of time as emergency crews responded and worked to clear the scene.
The Arkansas State Police has taken the lead on the investigation. Officials say more details will be released once the preliminary investigation is complete.
