The Arkansas State Police (ASP) reported record-setting drug seizures in 2025, leading all agencies in the Gulf Coast High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) region.

Officials say the agency’s Interstate Criminal Patrol Unit saw major increases across nearly every category of illegal narcotics, highlighting Arkansas’ role along major trafficking corridors.

ASP reported seizing:

1,154 pounds of methamphetamine (up from 509 in 2024)
750 pounds of cocaine (up from 254 in 2024)
127 pounds of fentanyl (up from 69 in 2024)
17,700 pounds of illegal marijuana
74 pounds of THC wax
4.6 pounds of heroin
1,200 pounds of THC edibles and vapes

Troopers also confiscated $1.6 million in cash, along with 28 weapons and 20 vehicles connected to trafficking operations.

ASP Director Col. Mike Hagar, who also serves as Chairman of the Gulf Coast HIDTA, said illegal marijuana and drug trafficking continue to fuel violence across communities.

State leaders praised the effort, noting Arkansas’ position at the center of major drug routes connecting the Southwest Border to the East Coast and Midwest.

The Gulf Coast HIDTA includes agencies across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Florida, working together to disrupt trafficking networks.

Nationwide, HIDTA agencies reported seizing more than 4.1 million pounds of drugs in 2025, disrupting an estimated $17.7 billion in illegal profits.
