Arkansas State University–Beebe has received national recognition for its HVACR technology program, earning designation from the U.S. Department of Energy as an Energy Skilled™ training provider in heat pump installation.

The recognition applies to the program offered on the Searcy campus and highlights the university’s commitment to preparing students for high-demand careers in energy-efficient heating and cooling systems.

According to ASU-Beebe officials, students in the program have been successfully passing the DOE-recognized HVAC Excellence Heat Pump Employment Ready Exam since April 2025. The certification gives graduates an opportunity to be listed in the Energy Skilled™ Google Search Tool, helping homeowners identify qualified technicians in their area.

“This recognition provides our students with stackable industry credentials and real-world, career-ready skills,” said Brad Cooper, advanced instructor for the HVACR program.

Through a collaboration between the U.S. Department of Energy and Google, technicians with Energy Skilled™ credentials may appear in Google Search and Google Maps with a special badge, increasing visibility for trained professionals and trusted service providers.

ASU-Beebe’s HVACR curriculum includes advanced training in ground source heat pumps and modern diagnostic tools, ensuring students are prepared for the growing demand in the industry.

With an increasing need for energy-efficient systems nationwide, the program aims to help address a projected shortage of skilled HVACR technicians.

The Energy Skilled™ recognition for ASU-Beebe is valid through August 2028.
