Clayton, a leading national builder of attainable single-family homes, has celebrated the grand opening of its new home building facility in Conway, Arkansas, marking a major investment in housing and job creation for Central Arkansas.

The Conway location is the company’s 41st home building facility nationwide and the first new facility Clayton has opened since 2016.

Clayton officials say the project represents a commitment to expanding access to attainable homeownership across the region.

“The Conway home building facility represents our vision to develop housing innovations that improve lives and build a better tomorrow,” said Colt Davis, President of Clayton Manufacturing. “The thousands of homes built here each year will help bring attainable homeownership within reach for families across the region.”

$42 Million Investment in Central Arkansas

Clayton is investing $42 million to modernize an existing 220,000-square-foot facility in Conway.

The indoor, air-conditioned manufacturing plant protects homes during construction from seasonal weather and is expected to produce 3,000 homes annually while creating more than 250 new jobs in the region.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders joined company executives and local leaders during the grand opening ceremony.

“Arkansas was recently ranked the No. 1 state for inbound movers for the second year in a row, and companies like Clayton are ensuring new residents have both affordable places to live and good places to work,” Governor Sanders said.

Economic Impact Across Faulkner County

Economic development leaders say the new facility will play an important role in addressing housing demand while strengthening Arkansas’ workforce and economy.

“Clayton’s new home building facility is creating hundreds of new jobs for Arkansans,” said Clint O’Neal, Executive Director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “This milestone helps address the nationwide housing shortage while creating new economic opportunities in Arkansas.”

Local leaders also praised the investment.

“This project reflects the strength of our local workforce and the continued momentum of our local economy,” said Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry.

Faulkner County Judge Allen Dodson said the facility will have a major impact on job growth and economic development across the county.

Clayton continues recruiting workers for a variety of positions at the Conway facility. Interested applicants can learn more at careers.claytonhomes.com.
