Clayton Edwards, a military veteran and longtime law enforcement leader, has officially announced his candidacy as a Republican for White County Sheriff.

Edwards currently serves as a captain with the White County Sheriff’s Department and brings more than 35 years of law enforcement experience, including 27 years with the White County Sheriff’s Office and more than 16 years as jail administrator. He is the current president of the Arkansas Jail Administrators Association and serves as president of the White County Fair Board.

Edwards began his career at age 17 when he joined the Army National Guard, serving for 10 years. His law enforcement background includes patrol operations, K-9 handling, criminal and narcotics investigations, dive team command, firearms training, and leadership in detention operations. He has completed more than 1,750 hours of accredited law enforcement training and is a graduate of the FBI Command College Arkansas Leader Program.

“My wife JoAn and I have proudly called White County home for the past 27 years,” Edwards said. “We’ve built our lives and a small business here, and I want to continue serving this community with experience, accountability, and integrity.”

Edwards says he is the only candidate with in-depth experience managing a detention center and emphasizes innovation in budgeting, staffing, and public safety operations. He describes himself as a conservative Republican who strongly supports constitutional rights and responsible community policing.

In addition to his law enforcement service, Edwards is a local small business owner and remains active in civic leadership and volunteer service throughout White County.

“I would be honored to earn your support and look forward to the opportunity to serve as your next White County Sheriff,” Edwards said.
