Colonel Walter Allard Assumes Command Of USACE Little Rock District

Colonel Walter T. Allard officially assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District during a May 22 ceremony at the Robinson Center in downtown Little Rock.

Allard replaces Colonel Eric R. Swenson, who is departing to take command of the USACE New York District.

The USACE Little Rock District oversees approximately $30 billion in federal water resource infrastructure including 12 multipurpose lakes, 13 navigation locks and dams, 7 hydroelectric plants, 168 recreation areas, and 308 miles of commercial navigation channels.

Allard most recently graduated from the Marine Corps War College at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, earning a master of strategic studies degree.

A native of New Hampshire, Allard has served in numerous command and operational assignments across the United States and overseas, including deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Africa.

His military honors include the Bronze Star Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters along with multiple additional service and commendation awards.
