Lifelong White County resident, law enforcement officer, and small business owner Dusty Betts has officially announced his candidacy for White County Sheriff in the 2026 election.

Betts, 53, was born and raised in White County, attending local public schools from kindergarten through high school. His roots run deep in the community, with generations of family members living and working across the county. He currently owns and operates Chase Mobile Home Services LLC, serves as a police officer for the City of Judsonia, and is the elected Constable for Cadron Township. Betts also serves on the White County Fair Board and is President of the White County Samaritans — Christmas 4 Kids organization.

“White County is my home and always will be,” Betts said. “That’s why I’m running for Sheriff — to preserve, protect, and strengthen the community for our families and future generations.”

Betts is running as a nonpartisan candidate, saying law enforcement should remain free of political labels.

“When you’re enforcing the law, political affiliation should never matter,” Betts said. “The Sheriff serves everyone — Republicans, Democrats, and those who don’t affiliate at all. People should vote based on qualifications, integrity, and ability to protect the community — not a political label.”

Betts emphasizes aggressive, proactive law enforcement focused on accountability, transparency, and public safety. As Constable, he actively patrols, conducts traffic stops, serves warrants, investigates crimes, and responds to emergencies.

“If you break the law, you will be held accountable — no matter who you are, what you believe, or who you know,” Betts said.

His platform includes:

Aggressive crime prevention and warrant enforcement

Holding repeat offenders accountable

Stronger community involvement and transparency

Supporting deputies through leadership and hands-on policing

Standing up against government overreach

Protecting families, schools, and neighborhoods

Strengthening cooperation between agencies and first responders

Betts supports a “blue-collar sheriff” approach — working alongside deputies rather than remaining behind a desk.

“Leadership is earned every day,” Betts said. “The Sheriff should be visible, engaged, and willing to lead from the front.”

He also plans to maintain regular public communication, including weekly updates and open dialogue with residents.

“I believe in God, family, and country,” Betts said. “I believe law enforcement exists to serve and protect the people — not politics, not bureaucracy, and not convenience.”

Betts says his campaign will remain positive and focused on solutions, and he welcomes public dialogue and debate.

“The future of White County matters,” Betts said. “I’m not running for a title — I’m running to make a difference.”
