Atlas® Van Lines has released its 2025 Migration Patterns Study, showing affordability as the leading factor influencing where Americans move. While overall mobility remains low due to housing costs and limited inventory, interstate moves held steady nationwide.

The study, tracking moves from November 2024 through October 2025, ranked Arkansas as the top inbound state in the nation. Atlas reports 38 percent of inbound moves to Arkansas were to Bentonville, home of Walmart’s headquarters, making it the only state where most inbound moves centered on a single city.

Southeastern states including Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee also ranked high for inbound moves, while Louisiana led outbound states for the second straight year. Atlas leaders say affordability and job-related relocation continue to shape migration trends.
