Arkansas State University-Beebe has announced the appointment of Michelle Gray as its new chief financial officer and vice chancellor for finance and administration.

Former State Rep Michelle Gray

Gray brings nearly two decades of experience in finance, healthcare, and public service to the role. She began her career in higher education finance in 2006 at Ozarka College, where she served as business manager and later interim vice president for finance. She later transitioned to healthcare, taking on leadership roles at Gray Family Practice, White River Health System, and most recently, A First Name Basis Home Care, where she served as Arkansas market leader.

A former state representative from 2015 to 2022, Gray also maintained a focus on healthcare administration and financial strategy throughout her time in public office.

Gray’s commitment to community colleges is deeply personal. She credits her son’s success as a commercial pilot and flight instructor to the aviation program he completed at a local community college.

“I have a heart for higher education—community colleges specifically—and the mission they strive to attain,” Gray said.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and is a graduate of the Arkansas Community Colleges’ Higher Education Leadership Institute and the Center for Advancement of Leadership Skills.

Dr. Jennifer Methvin, chancellor of ASU-Beebe, said Gray’s blend of financial expertise and passion for student success makes her a perfect fit for the role.

“Michelle brings not only an extensive knowledge and experience in financial leadership, but she shares a passion for our mission of transforming lives,” Methvin said.

As CFO, Gray will lead the college’s financial operations, including accounting, procurement, budgeting, and facilities management.

“For some students, higher education might not be an option without a community college like ASU-Beebe,” Gray said. “I’m proud to be part of an institution that opens doors and keeps students connected to their communities.”
