Faulkner County leaders approved 4 ordinances involving employee compensation, budget adjustments, sheriff’s office finances and emergency management equipment during the Faulkner County Quorum Court October 2026 meeting Tuesday evening, October 20.

The meeting also included reports on jail populations, law enforcement activity and county road improvements.

Among the most significant actions was approval of a one-time $400 payment for full-time county employees and a $200 payment for part-time employees.

Sheriff’s officials also reported that the patrol division handled 2,066 calls, including 117 involving violent and domestic crimes.

Meanwhile, county road officials reported progress on chip-sealing projects and continued work involving the Scott Callow development.

Faulkner County Approves $400 Payments for Full-Time Employees

One of the major decisions involved Ordinance 26-29, authorizing one-time additional compensation for eligible county employees.

Under the approved measure, full-time employees will receive a $400 payment, while part-time employees will receive $200.

The ordinance provides a one-time payment rather than a permanent increase to employee base salaries.

The measure was among 4 ordinances approved during Tuesday’s meeting.

Faulkner County Jail Population Figures Reported

The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office presented updated detention center statistics.

According to the department report, Unit 1 averaged approximately 156 inmates.

Male housing in Unit 2 reached 193 inmates.

The figures highlight the number of individuals being housed and supervised within the county’s detention operations.

Staffing, facility operations, transportation, medical care and daily supervision are among the responsibilities associated with maintaining the detention system.

Sheriff’s Patrol Division Handles 2,066 Calls

The Sheriff’s Office also presented law enforcement activity statistics.

The patrol division reported handling 2,066 calls during the reporting period.

Of those, 117 were categorized as violent and domestic crimes.

Patrol deputies serve communities throughout Faulkner County, including unincorporated areas outside municipal police department jurisdictions.

Their responsibilities include responding to emergencies, investigating reported crimes, assisting motorists, conducting traffic enforcement and supporting other public safety agencies.

The department’s report provides county leaders with information used to evaluate law enforcement operations, staffing and budget needs.

County Road Department Reports Chip-Sealing Progress

Faulkner County Road Department officials provided updates on ongoing road maintenance and infrastructure improvements.

The report highlighted progress on chip-sealing projects throughout the county.

Chip sealing is a pavement preservation process that uses an asphalt treatment and aggregate material to help protect existing road surfaces.

The technique is commonly used on roads where maintenance can extend pavement life without requiring complete reconstruction.

The department also discussed ongoing infrastructure work associated with the Scott Callow development.

Ordinance 26-28 Approves County Budget Amendments

The Quorum Court approved Ordinance 26-28, addressing amendments to the county budget and grant-related allocations.

Budget amendments allow county officials to adjust spending authorizations and account for changes in funding needs during the fiscal year.

Grant allocations can also require formal county approval before money is appropriated for designated purposes.

Ordinance 26-29 Authorizes One-Time Employee Payments

Ordinance 26-29 approved the one-time employee compensation measure.

  • Full-time employees: $400
  • Part-time employees: $200

The payments are separate from employees’ regular wages and salaries and are intended as one-time additional compensation rather than an ongoing salary adjustment.

Ordinance 26-30 Addresses Sheriff’s Office Financial Adjustments

The Quorum Court also approved Ordinance 26-30, concerning mid-year financial and appropriation adjustments for the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office operates law enforcement, detention and other public safety functions requiring budget authorization.

Ordinance 26-31 Transfers Emergency Management Inventory to Conway

Another approved measure, Ordinance 26-31, authorizes the transfer of emergency management inventory to the City of Conway.

Coordination between county and municipal agencies can involve shared resources, equipment and emergency response operations.
