A major investment in local recreation was announced today, signaling a boost for community outdoor spaces across the state.
The City of Conway received a $100,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s Recreational Trails Program to resurface and extend the walking trail at Laurel Park, improving accessibility and connectivity.
Conway Secures Funding to Upgrade Laurel Park Trail
The $100,000 award will be used to lay asphalt over the existing trail, giving it a smoother, more durable surface. The upgrade aims to make the trail safer and more appealing for walkers and cyclists.
New connections will be built to link the Laurel Park trail with sidewalk networks on Prince Street and Robinson Avenue. These links will create a continuous route for pedestrians throughout the neighborhood.
The Recreational Trails Program, administered by the Arkansas Department of Transportation, funds projects that maintain, restore, or create trail infrastructure. This grant is part of that broader effort to enhance Arkansas’s trail system.
Details on the project timeline and any additional community input have not yet been released. Further information will be provided by city officials as the work progresses.
